COMM 4800 Course Description

The department's student internship program is designed to provide you with practical training and an opportunity to use the skills you are developing in your Communication Studies courses. It is also a chance for UNT to show the community the quality of students we have on campus. Thus, as you participate in the program you should always remember that you are not only selling yourself, but you are representing the department and the university as well. Many students are offered full-time positions based on the success of their internship experiences.

To apply for an internship, please save the application below to your computer, fill out all indicated fields and send it to iftekhar.ahmed@unt.edu.

Internship Application

You may earn up to 3 semester credit hours in a given semester for completing an internship. The maximum number of semester credit hours that can be earned through internships is three. You will be expected to work approximately 50 hours for each hour of credit earned; a student enrolled for 3 semester credit hours should plan to work a minimum of 150 hours (10 hours per week in a regular semester) to complete the internship. In addition to the successful completion of working hours, you will be evaluated by your internship supervisor, and you will write one paper and keep a detailed journal for the Communication Studies faculty on your internship experience. Guidelines for these papers will be made available when you are selected for the program.

Should you have additional questions concerning student internships, please contact Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed in the Department of Communication Studies at iftekhar.ahmed@unt.edu.

We look forward to working with you as you progress toward your career goals.
