Cyber Security Awareness Training is due Nov. 15

You Are the Shield

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity. The internet touches almost all aspects of everyone’s daily life, whether we realize it or not. National Cyber Security Awareness Month is designed to engage and educate public and private sector partners through events and initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity, provide them with tools and resources needed to stay safe online, and increase the resiliency of the Nation in the event of a cyber incident.

The online Information Security Training is updated and accessible through my.UNT. All UNT employees must complete this year’s security awareness training by Nov. 15, 2017, that will cover topics about phishing, working remotely, and data security. Full-time employees are required to complete the 10 mandatory training modules. Six additional modules are optional to view but not required.

Note: Full-time employees who do not complete the training by Nov. 15 at 11:59 p.m., are at risk of losing access to computer resources.

New full-time employees hired after April 1, 2017, who completed the training during onboarding are not required to repeat the training this year. Although part-time employees are not required to complete the training, they are encouraged to do so.

Please login to the EIS portal and click on the link in the Information Security Training section. The required training includes 10 video courses, which are two to five minutes in length. Each video is followed by one assessment question.

Once all mandatory video courses are completed, employees may download and print a certificate of completion. Employees will earn one Continuing Professional Education credit for completing the training. More information about security policies and security awareness training is available online.
