Grantsmanship Training Workshop

Planning and Writing Successful Grant Proposals

Faculty are invited to register for one of two grant proposal planning and writing workshops. The Office of Research and Innovation is partnering with the distinguished AtKisson Training Group LLC, to deliver a one-day grant writing workshop focused on proposal preparation and review processes that lead to increased external funding submission success. This research development training is designed to convey the fundamentals of proposal writing, concrete tips and operational strategies. The session combines a lecture format with engagement activities to fit the range of potential funding targets identified by UNT. The targeted learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding of the preparation steps before beginning the writing process;
  • Learning techniques for creating a strong argument for the proposed project;
  • Developing techniques for communicating the approach clearly; and
  • Understanding how these techniques connect to the process by which a grant proposal is reviewed.

Integrated into all sessions are ways to make the proposal process part of the everyday academic process, and to strategically plan for longer-term funding.
