In the fall of 2002 the University of North Texas, College of music reorganized their Chamber Music Program. Since the program serviced over 200 string, wind, brass and keyboard performance majors and offered each group the opportunity to perform, a new system had to be devised.

A Chamber Music Committee was organized with a Coordinator of Chamber Music and a Faculty Area Representative from each of the four applied areas. The Committee was appointed to interact with the applied faculty and to establish the guidelines for the Chamber Music Program.  The applied faculty, headed by the Area Representatives formed the groups, suggested the repertoire and assigned the coaches for each ensemble.

This format proved to be very successful: groups from our program have performed in Europe, Asia in Canada. They have also been selected to participate in the Fischoff, Plowman and Coleman Competitions. The Black Pearl Piano Trio won the first prize in the Chamber Music International Competition.

The University of North Texas, College of Music is very proud of our Chamber Music Students.
