The Texas Success Initiative, TSI, is a state law that requires all Texas public institutions to determine college readiness in reading, writing and mathematics for all degree-seeking undergraduates, including incoming freshman and transfer students, for both on-campus and online courses. TSI status does not affect your admission to the University of North Texas. TSI affects students enrolling as a first time freshman, transfer, or dual credit student.
If you are a new incoming freshman or transfer student, you can access UNT's policies and procedures for managing your TSI status. Information includes exemption options, testing locations, study resources, and a checklist for handling TSI requirements before arriving on campus for orientation.
Students applying for dual credit enrollment at UNT must meet state mandated TSI requirements through either a wavier or exemption. Details on what is acceptable is provided.
