Marquis Hall, which was named after the college’s president Dr. Robert Lincoln Marquis (1923-1934), initially opened in 1936. The building was the first dormitory on campus, housing only about 100 women. Along with dorm rooms, the building also contained two dining rooms, two banquet halls, and a reception room. Marquis continued to operate as a residence hall until 1969, when it was then converted into office space. After that, the building housed a variety of departments on campus.

In 2014, Marquis Hall underwent major renovations to make way for UNT International. Currently, this newly renovated building offices UNT International on the first floor, while the second and third floors contain office, classrooms, and computer labs for the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI).
