Majors

B.A. with a major in French, German, or Japanese

Minors

Students may pursue minors in Arabic, Asian Studies, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, or Russian.

A minor in Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Latin, or Russian consists of a minimum of 18 semester hours in the selected language, including 6 advanced hours. A minor in French consists of a minimum of 21 semester hours in French, including 9 advanced hours, 3 of which must be at the 4000 level. A minor in German consists of a minimum of 21 semester hours in the selected language, including 9 advanced hours. A minor in Japanese consists of a minimum of 21 semester hours in Japanese, including JAPN 3020 and JAPN 3030. Demonstration of proficiency may be substituted for credit in courses equivalent to LANG 1010-2050. A minimum grade of C is required for a course to count toward the minor.

Teacher Certification

FREN/GERM 4150 Foreign Language Instruction and Assessment is required for students admitted by the College of Education to the Teacher Certification program for French or German. This course is recommended for any students considering teaching as a career option even if they are not currently in the Teacher Certification program. Professional French Certificate

This undergraduate academic certificate requires 12 hours of advanced French, including:
