The UNT Special Collections 2019 Research Fellowship Awardee - Eric Denby

The University of North Texas Libraries invite applications for the 2020 UNT Special Collections Research Fellowship. Research in special collections is relevant to studies in a variety of disciplines including history, journalism, political science, geography, fine art, art history and American studies. We encourage applicants to think creatively about new uses for special collections. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the greatest potential for publication and the best use of special collections at UNT Libraries.

Project Title

LGBTQ Youth Organizing from 1965 to 1990

Project Description

This project looks at middle and high school aged gay and lesbian youth from 1965 to 1990. The researcher is interested in understanding how this age group handled oppression and repression from gay and lesbian organizations, their schools, and their communities.

Biography

Eric W. Denby is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. His research interests include LGBTQ protest and social activist groups, especially among 12 to 18 year olds.
