Graduate Student Research Awards
The Toulouse Graduate School is pleased to offer the Graduate Student Research Award. Resulting from the advocacy and initiative of the Graduate Student Council, the Office of the Vice-President for Finance has established a new competitive Thesis/Dissertation Research Award program to be administered annually by the Toulouse Graduate School.
Funds may be requested for $500-$1000 to support costs of equipment use, supplies, research-related travel, data-access fees or other expenses directly related to research (these funds cannot be used to pay yourself a salary).
To be eligible, graduate students:
- Must be working on their thesis/dissertation research or creative activity.
- Must show evidence of high academic and research productivity in terms of GPA, recommendation letters, previous publications, previous presentations, etc.
- Must include a faculty letter of support, a one-page research abstract, and a current CV through the online application.
- Must have an approved degree plan on file in the Graduate School.
- Must complete Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training. This requirement can be met in one of two ways:
- Designated RCR Workshops – Students may use attendance at one of our designated RCR professional development workshops for credit. Please check workshop descriptions to ensure that they meet the requirement. Attendance at one of these workshops can also be used towards the professional development workshop requirement.
- Online CITI Training – Available through the UNT Office of Research Integrity and Compliance. Students will receive a certificate after completing the course, and TGS will keep a record on file to verify completion.
- Must attend the research grant application training provided by Toulouse Graduate School, either via in-person attendance or live stream, or prerecorded video.
Applying for a Research Award
- To begin, contact your faculty advisor to request a letter of support. To submit your application, you will need to attach this file.
- Gather your one-page research abstract (as a PDF or Word document), RCR training information (name of the workshop attended or online course taken), and CV (as a PDF or Word document).
- Next, login and fill out the online application.
- Once your application is submitted, you'll receive a confirmation message. Your application will be reviewed during the next evaluation period and you'll be notified of acceptance or denial.
