ABOUT THE FUND

The goal of the emergency awards provided by the McNatt Fund for Students in Financial Crisis is to keep students in financial crisis enrolled and progressing toward their degrees. While a student at UNT, Jim McNatt witnessed the needs of his fellow students that created barriers to obtaining their education. Mr. McNatt established this fund to assist students with similar barriers to their education that can be addressed by an emergency award.

CRITERIA AND ELIGIBILITY
  1. Applicants must be admitted to UNT in a degree granting program.
  2. Applicants must meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of UNT.
  3. Applicants must be classified as an undergraduate or graduate student in one of the degree programs offered by the Ryan College of Business.
  4. Applicants must maintain half-time enrollment (6 hours for undergraduate students/5 hours for graduate students).
    Note: Any other enrollment exception must be reviewed and approved at the time of the application.
  5. Applicants must upload a one-page essay detailing your mitigating circumstance for funding and attach supporting documentation as applicable. Examples of mitigating circumstances include: death or illness of parent, child or spouse; loss or reduction in employment; unanticipated unusual medical or educational expenses.

    Please include information on what initiative you have taken to solve this issue and/or other resources you have sought out (i.e. loans, part-time job, etc.). Be specific on costs associated with this request and what the funds will pay for. Applicants unable to specify how the funds will be used will be subject to denial of request.

    Essays must be in pdf or doc/docx format.

PROCESSING INFORMATION:
Once a decision concerning your application has been made, you will receive email notification from the awarding committee. The committee will make every effort to review applications within 7-10 business days of receipt and provide a written response regarding the decision as soon as possible after review has been completed.
