We encourage UNT staff and faculty to become familiar with the records that need preservation and follow the records retention schedule. As mandated by the Board of Regents, the University Archive permanently preserves records of enduring value. A few examples of records that come to the Archives are: department publications, photographs, broadcasts, reports, and biographical records (such as faculty vitas).

Staff and faculty may use the guidelines below to assist in the transfer of potentially historical materials. These guidelines are not comprehensive. Please contact the archive before destroying or removing records.

  1. Identify the records that need to be transferred to Archives and Rare Books.
Place “Archives” in the “Final Repository” box at https://records.unt.edu/rrsand click. A select group of records will be brought up. Click on each record series to see the full range of records in each series.
  2. Fill out the Final Disposition Log (https://records.unt.edu/content/fdl) 3.Contact Morgan Gieringer to transfer the files to the Archives.
