Construction Updates

There were several construction projects started over the break, and Transportion Services wants to keep everyone informed on those projects.

We appreciate your patience as we work through construction on and around campus, including work to provide the university with 1,000 additional parking spaces.

A full map of all the lots can be found here.

Lot 20 (Fouts Field):

There were some delays with the Fouts Field construction project over the break due to weather. As a result, part of phase 4 (see a map here) will be closed until Jan. 30.

Eagle permit holders will still be able to park in the unaffected areas of Lot 20 (Fouts Field) and crews will be working to finish construction as soon as possible. If Lot 20 fills up, Transportation Services employees will be within the lot to direct students to overflow parking, where they can catch a UNT bus to the interior of campus.

One of the entrances will be unavailable, but there will still be entrances to both sections of Lot 20.

The bus stop will be temporarily moved to the west side of the Coliseum, near the corner of Highland Street and North Texas Boulevard. Traffic patterns on North Texas Boulevard may be affected.

Resident permit holders are reminded that they will be parking in Lots 80, 81 and 85 around Victory Hall with the FCS permit holders for the spring semester while construction is underway.

Bernard Street:

The City of Denton began reconstruction on Bernard Street on Jan. 4. The construction stretches from Fannin Street to Eagle Drive and from Eagle Drive to West Chestnut Street. This construction is not blocking Eagle Drive, but may affect travel routes for those parking in Lots 41 (near Zen Apartments), 40 (behind the Greek Life Center), 38 and 39 (north of the Greek Life Center).

Anyone planning to park in those lots should expect to detour to Welch Street. All of the lot entrances will remain accessible from other streets.

Bonnie Brae exit from I35 W:

Nightly Bonnie Brae exit closures from I35W are expected through Jan. 16. The closures are in place while Texas Department of Transportation repairs some sections of concrete. The exit is anticipated to be open during the day.
