Valerian Named Conference USA All-Academic Team

DALLAS – For the first time in her career, junior outside hitter Valerie Valerian was selected to the Conference USA All-Academic, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Valerian has started in every match but one this season, being the only player to appear in over 100 sets with 101 sets played.

She is the team leader in every nearly offensive category. She leads in kills with 427, kills per set with 4.23 and total attempts with 1,126. She is also the team dig leader with 314 and averages 3.11 digs per set. While off the court, she has shined in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA within her accounting major. She is the only honoree with a 4.0 GPA.

"We are really proud of Val for this recognition," head coach Andrew Palileo said. "She is very diligent. She works hard on her academics. Val continues to be a model student-athlete for North Texas as a whole, and within in our program."

She was named the North Texas president's and C-USA honor roll list in five straight semesters starting in spring 2017. Valerian was honored by the conference with C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal recognitions in 2017-18 and the 2018-19 school year.

Valerian and her teammates begin the C-USA Volleyball Championships as the #3 seed on Friday at 7 p.m. against #6 UTSA on ESPN+.
