UNT Insider

Dear alumni and friends,

At UNT, we work daily to provide our students with the knowledge, drive and critical thinking skills that will enable them to achieve their dreams and thrive. We were thrilled to welcome home Wende Zomnir ('89), a journalism graduate who did just that by embracing "bold." Wende co-founded Urban Decay Cosmetics, one of the top-selling makeup brands, filling what was then a large void in the market by creating prestige cosmetics in bright colors. She shared her entrepreneurial secrets and insight on "How Urban Decay Disrupted and Transformed an Industry" during the UNT President's Lecture Series, and you can watch a video of her speech. As a creative, caring and tenacious alumna, Wende is the true embodiment of UNT.

In this issue, you'll also find others who embody that spirit, such as a mother-daughter student duo inspiring the nation with their shared dream of becoming doctors, and an alumna whose years-in-the-making memoir is now a finalist for a National Book Award. And you can read about our award-winning diversity initiatives, our new Lovelace and McNatt Families Practice Facility, Homecoming Week and this year's Wingspan Gala celebration, Viva North Texas.

Thank you for all you do to support UNT!

UNT Proud,

Neal Smatresk
