NASSAU, Bahamas – The UNT women's golf team moved up a leaderboard loaded with nationally ranked top-50 teams on Tuesday to sixth place in Round 2 of the White Sands Bahamas Invitational, and is putting itself in prime position to improve on is ranking of No. 60 entering the tournament with a strong finish Wednesday.
 
The worst counting score on Tuesday was a respectable 2-over 74 by sophomore Audrey Tan, while the Mean Green were led on the day by sophomore Katie Finley's 2-under 70 and senior Lauren Cox's 1-under 71. Sophomore Patricia Sinolungan shot a 1-over 73 and is tied for 16th after two rounds at 1-over par.
 
The Mean Green sit at 7-over par for the tournament in sixth place, just one shot back of No. 24 Houston and three back of No. 41 Oklahoma and No. 34 Georgia, who are tied for third place. UNT is ahead of five top-50 teams: No. 31 Clemson, No. 27 Baylor, No. 21 Mississippi State, No. 48 Tennessee and No. 25 Ohio State.
 
"We are happy to have had a solid round today and move up the leaderboard," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "The weather conditions were warm and windy, which plays to our favor. Katie had a breakout round today, which hopefully helps her get her comfort zone to another level. Most of the players think they left shots out there and want to go low in the final round. We are excited to be in the mix for a top-3 finish against a strong field."
