The CLEAR Online Teacher & Course Awards is a University-wide program to recognize excellence in the design of online courses of and the facilitation of the instructional experience using educational technology. Online Teacher and Course Award recipients receive the distinction of a special Online Teacher and Course Award logo placed in their course for three years to signify their online course has been deemed outstanding or exemplary and has been judged to meet nationally-recognized standards for excellence in online course design. The award also provides recipients with a trophy and monetary stipend.
Nominations
We are once again extending the opportunity to acknowledge exceptional online design and pedagogy from our UNT teaching community. This year, we intend on highlighting faculty who have participated in our ‘Full Development’ course design process, as well as our ‘Course in a Box’ development process. If you, or a faculty member you know designed and delivered an online course during the Fall 2018, Spring 2019, or Summer 2019 semesters within our new development tracks that you think is worthy of consideration for this award, please fill out the attached nomination packet and send it back to CLEAR by Friday, December 6th, 2019. Nominations should be sent via email to samuel.gist@unt.edu
One "Outstanding Full Development" and one "Exemplary Course in a Box" award will be given, and recipients will be notified no later than February 21st, 2020. Award presentations will take place during the Spring 2020 Salute to Faculty Excellence Reception Dinner, which will be held April 23rd, from 6 to 9 pm in the Union Ballroom.
In addition to the nomination packet, you’ll find CLEAR's Course Approval Rubric, which will be used to evaluate course nominations. If you're unsure about what constitutes a quality online course, feel free to reference the rubric as a guide for making your decision.
Awards will include:
- $1500 (taxable award) and a trophy will be awarded to the given to the recipient of the "Outstanding Full Development" Online Teacher & Course Award.
- $1000 (taxable award) and a trophy will be awarded to the recipient of the "Exemplary Course in a Box" Online Teacher & Course Award
- Recipients will be recognized at the Spring 2020 Salute to Faculty Excellence Awards Dinner and Celebration, and their names will be included on a perpetual award plaque displayed in the Center for Learning Experimentation, Application, and Research.
