CEMIcircles 2019-2020 Selected Works

Thank you to everyone who submitted to CEMIcircles 2019-2020! We received nearly 200 submissions from around the world, including Africa, North and South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe in an incredibly exciting pool of diverse artistry and new approaches to electronic music.

The festival is right around the corner! We have our program and are excited to bring you a fantastic festival of electronic music. All concerts are free and open to the public held at the Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theater at the University of North Texas. This program is subject to change, so please see our website and Facebook page for up-to-date information.

    CEMIcircles will take place on October 21st in the Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theatre. The festival will consist of two concerts and will feature fixed, live, and multimedia electronic music by the aforementioned composers. For further information please contact the CEMI staff.

    The 2015 41st International Computer Music Conference was hosted by CEMI from September 25 to October 1st at the University of North Texas. The festival brought electronic musicians from around the globe to present research, installations, and musical works in eleven different venues across the University of North Texas campus and around Denton, Texas. The theme of the conference, “Looking Back, Looking Forward” invited participants to reflect on the innovations, developments and artistic challenges in computer music over the past century, and to articulate a vision for the future.

    The 14th annual Electric LaTex festival took place November 21–22 at the University of North Texas College of Music. The festival was a showcase of student electro-acoustic music and multi-media works from schools in Louisiana and Texas. Schools represented included: the University of Texas-Austin, Louisiana State University, the University of North Texas, Rice University and Tulane University. Works for live electronics, custom instruments, up to 16.1 audio and up to 3 screens of video were presented in UNT's Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theater.

    The 2014 CIME/ICEM Festival took place October 1-4 at the University of North Texas College of Music. Composers from around the world presented papers, installations, and musical works in UNT's Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theater and Voertman Hall during this four day event.

    The 2013 CEMIcircles Festival took place October 4-6 across the University of North Texas campus and at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas. In celebration of our 50th year, the extended CEMI family was gathered together to share their latest work and ideas. The festival showcased recent works by alumni, students, and research affiliates past and present. Events took place in the Merrill Ellis Intermedia Theater, the UNT Sky Theater, the Voertman Concert Hall, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
