  • EUGENE, Ore. - North Texas track field completed its season Saturday afternoon at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds from Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. The afternoon started with the women's 4x100-meter relay of Brittani Simmons, Alysha Adams, Missy Barnes and Brittany Blaylock falling just .63 seconds out of a quali...fying spot with a time of 45.79 seconds. Adams would then go on to compete individually in the 100-meterhurdles. The senior registered a did DNF (Did Not Finish) in the race. Adams entered competition with the school record in the 100-hurdles with a 13.08 second time. Justin Flowers, Steven White, Reggie Hayter and Clinton Collins ran the final race of the afternoon in the men's 4x400-meter relay. The team crossed the line in 3:12.96, which was good enough for 21st place overall. Of the athletes that competed at the 2011 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, only Steven White (sophomore) and Clinton Collins (freshman) return

  • EUGENE, Ore. - Mean Green senior hurdler Alysha Adams advanced to the quarterfinals of the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on Friday at Hayward Field. Adams, who came in with the fifth fastest time in the NCAA West with a 13.08, finished first in heat six, recoding a time of 13.63 seconds. That time ranked No. 13 in t...he prelim, trailing Nia Ali of Southern California who ran a 12.82 to capture the top spot. The quarterfinal for the 100-meter hurdle will be run Saturday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. PT. The top three from each heat along with the next three fastest times will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Ia. Three other members of North Texas track field were in action Friday, with senior Christal Brewster registering the next highest finish.   • EUGENE, Ore. - Senior Patrick Strong recorded the second fastest 10,000 meter run in school history Thursday night at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds from Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Strong, who came into competition ranked 48th in the region, finished 28th overall in the national semifinal with a time of 30:0...2.82, just 42 seconds out of a berth at the NCAA Championships. Five other members of the North Texas track field team were in action on Thursday night including sophomore Steven White. White, who was a member of the United States Junior National Team as a freshman, fell just short of advancing to Friday's 400-meter hurdle quarterfinal round when he crossed the line in 52.33 seconds. That time put him at 26th place overall, a mere .21 seconds from the 24th and final spot.
