Min Kyung Kim is a doctoral candidate in piano performance at UNT with Professor Joseph Banowetz. Her related field is music & medicine with Dr. Kris Chesky. Min was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. Prior to studying at UNT, she completed a bachelor degree in piano performance at the Myongji University. While at UNT, Min finished a Master’s degree in piano performance with Professor Banowetz and collaborative piano with Dr. Steve Harlos.

Min’s accomplishments include winning several piano competitions including those held by Music Education News Competition, the Korea Philharmonic Orchestra Competition, and Ye Won University Competition. Myongji University awarded Ms. Kim the outstanding role model scholarship in 2005. Throughout her master and doctoral studies at UNT, she was the recipient of the James T. Rhea Scholarship, the College of Music/ USC Scholarship, the Academic Achievement Scholarships and the Raupe Grant.

As a researcher, she presented a poster session on the relationships between memory problems and performance anxiety among pianists at the 2014 Performing Arts Medicine Association in Aspen, Colorado. Her dissertation on this topic is underway.
