How to Report Fraud, Waste, or Abuse

The State Auditor's Office (SAO) investigates allegations of fraud, waste, or abuse relating to state funds associated with state agencies and institutions of higher education.

We encourage you to submit your complaint in writing, providing as much detail as possible. You may submit your complaint by one of the following methods:

The SAO will review all reports submitted. Persons who report fraud may choose to remain anonymous. Any information submitted may be subject to the Public Information Act.

Information to Submit

Provide as much detail as necessary so that appropriate action can be taken. This can include the following:

  • Your name (optional if you would like to remain anonymous).
  • Contact information, such as e-mail, telephone, or address (if PO box, please include a physical address).
  • Description of incident (see FAQ for more details).
