Costs and Approximate Costs

Please note that these costs are an approximate grand total of expenses throughout the certification process. The sum of this list is not paid upon initial enrollment.
Enrollment
Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program enrollment fees.
Course Examination
TMCCP course examinations. Payment is due two weeks before exam date.
Dues
Three years of Texas Municipal Clerks Association dues are required. TMCA are currently $100 per calendar year (yearly membership dues cost subject to change in future). Three years of dues is $300 (each dues payment must be made yearly, cannot be paid in lump sum).
Textbook Borrowing Fee
Borrowing textbooks from the TMCA loan library is optional. The one-time fee to borrow textbooks from the TMCA Loan Library: $100.
Texbook Purchases
Approximate cost to purchase textbooks* by course. Purchase of textbooks is optional; an enrollee is welcome to obtain their textbooks however they want (borrowed from TMCA loan library, or sourced on your own through purchases, rental, local library, etc). Do not send a check to us for these approximate costs; please follow the instructions on our textbook request form.

*Purchase Books: Purchasing of textbooks is optional. Instead of purchasing all of the textbooks, borrowing is available through the TMCA Loan Library after payment of a one-time TMCA Loan Library fee. If purchasing textbooks, enrollees are welcome to search for competitively priced copies of the currently used editions of the textbooks online. Important: Do not purchase textbooks far in advance of beginning coursework—TMCCP textbooks and editions are subject to change/updates, and only textbooks currently used in coursework may be used for TMCCP homework.
Course 1
Course 1: all four textbooks are available to purchase or borrow.
Cost of textbooks may be as high as $445 before shipping, handling, and tax are added; the purchase price will vary depending on your source.
Course 2
Course 2: the textbook is available to purchase or borrow.
Cost of the Course 2 textbook may be as high as $130 before shipping, handling and tax are added; the purchase price will vary depending on your source.
Texas Municipal Law and Procedure Manual – is required for Course 2 and cannot be borrowed from the TMCA Loan Library.
Course 3
Course 3: both textbooks are available to purchase or borrow.
Cost of the two Course 3 textbooks may be around $195 before shipping, handling, and tax are added; the purchase price will vary depending on your source.
Course 4
Course 4: all three books are available to purchase or borrow.
Cost of the three Course 4 textbooks may be as high as $390 before shipping, handling, and tax are added; the purchase price will vary depending on your purchase source
Texas Municipal Election Law Manual – is required for Course 4, and cannot be borrowed from the TMCA Loan Library.
Seminars
Early registration fees for TMCCP seminars are each approximately $250 to $300. An enrollee must attend eight TMCCP seminars. Read more about the seminars.
- Hotel room, one person, per night, may range from $120-165.
- Seminars are two days in duration and an enrollee must attend eight seminars.
Graduation
A Graduation Processing Fee is collected in the month before graduation: $20.
