The College of Education Student Computer Lab manages computer labs for use by current students in Matthews Hall 309 and Physical Education Building Room 220. Both labs feature free amenities for currently enrolled students and are open year round, including summer, with the exception of days when the University is closed.

How do I print single-sided?
The Matthews Hall GACL encourages students to use double-sided printing by setting this option as default. Single-sided printing, however, is available as needed or preferred. In order to print single-sided you have to:
- Click on the File menu and choose the Print option.
- Click on Preferences or Printer Properties.
- On the Setup tab (this should be default), choose Off on the Duplex dropdown menu. (Ask for assistance if needed)
- Click on OK, then click Print.

How do I print PowerPoint slides? How can I print more than one slide per page?
Presentations on MS PowerPoint are often posted for students to access as needed. The best way to print these presentations is by opening them in PowerPoint. Follow these steps:
- Save the presentation to the local computer.
- Open the presentation in PowerPoint.
- Click on the orange File tab in the top ribbon and choose the Print option on the left.
If you would like to print more than one slide per page, change the "Full Page Slides" tab to the number of slides per page you prefer.

How do I save files to my CD-R/RW?
In order to save files to a CD-R/RW at the Matthews Hall GACL, follow these steps:
- First save the files to the Desktop or somewhere you will easily find them.
- Insert the blank CD-R/RW into the CD drive, and click "Burn files to disc" on the Autoplay menu that should pop up. If the Autoplay menu does not appear, click the "Libraries" icon (it looks like a file folder) on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. From there, click "DVD RW Drive" in the menu on the left.
- To save files other than audio files, choose "Like a USB flash drive" and click Next. Make sure to name your CD at this time if you wish.
- Another Autoplay menu should pop up after it formats the CD. Click "Add Files to Disc".
- Drag the files you wish to burn to the CD into that window.
- When you are finished, click "Close Session" and then Eject your disc.

How do I save a Word document as an Adobe PDF file?
PDF is used more frequently than Word to publish documents online. Follow the steps to convert a Word document into a PDF document:
- Open the Word file.
- Click on the blue "File" tab in the top ribbon and choose the "Print" option.
- Change the printer from MATTGACL to Adobe PDF.
- Click Print.
- Open the Word file.

Can I make photocopies at the Matthews Hall?
Matthews Hall GACL is not equipped with a photocopy machine. We have scanners that allow you to capture and save documents, but they require more work and time than regular photocopy machines.

How do I attach a file to an email?
The specifics of attaching a file to an email message vary from one email program to the next. In general, here's how you attach a file to an email message:
- Note the name of the file you want to attach and where it is located on your computer.
- Open a new email message.
- Complete the email message as usual (subject, recipients, and text).
- Click on the attach icon (often a picture of a paperclip) on your menu bar, or select the appropriate menu option to attach a file.
- In the file attachment dialog box or window, select the file you want to attach. Click on Attach or Insert, as the case may be.
- You should be able to view an icon or text of the file you just attached to verify that it is there. You can also click on the icon to open the file and verify that it is the correct file.
- If you have more than one file to send, repeat this process for each individual file.
- Send the message.

How do I print a document in color at the Matthews Hall GACL?
All of our printers are capable of printing in color; to change this setting:
- Open the file.
- Click on the File tab in the top ribbon and choose the Print option.
- Select the color printer.
- Click on OK, then click Print.

How many copies of one document and how many pages can I print at the Matthews Hall GACL?
A user is not allowed to print more than 20 sheets of paper per print job, which equals 20 pages single-sided or 40 pages double-sided.
General Lab Policies
- All labs operate on a first-come first-serve basis. No reservations will be made for single users or groups. Students must present their current University ID card if requested by lab personnel.
- If a user leaves the lab for more than 20 minutes, the computer will log the user out of the station and any unsaved files will be lost. Any remaining personal materials will be considered abandoned.
- Items and materials left behind by visitors are considered abandoned. Lost Student ID cards and other important items are taken to the Dean's Office in MH 117. Other items will be kept in the lab's Lost and Found for a period of two weeks. The University is not responsible for lost or abandoned materials.
- There will be absolutely no loud talking, smoking, chewing tobacco, eating, or drinking from uncovered containers in the lab areas.
- Only one user will be allowed per station in the main lab so that all users may be provided a quiet, non-distracting atmosphere in which to work.
- The lab staff have the authority to oversee our policies and procedures, and uncooperative users will be denied access to the lab.
Printing Policies
- Printing will be provided ONLY to UNT students as it relates to their course work.
- Single sided print may be printed in 20 page increments. Double sided print may be printed in 40 page increments.
- Absolutely NO special paper printing or transparencies.
- Printing rates as follows:
- $0.03 for 1 single-sided Black & White sheet.
- $0.05 for 1 double-sided Black & White sheet.
- $0.10 for 1 single-sided Color sheet.
- $0.19 for 1 double-sided Color sheet.
