Melvin E. "Mel" Brewer, the son of Ernest M. Brewer and Effie Mae Waggoner Brewer, was born on May 20, 1922 in Dallas, Texas. Brewer was a member and past director of the Dallas Genealogical Society and the Denton County Genealogical Society. He published three genealogy books about his and his wife's families. He passed away April 6, 2014.

Scope and Contents: The Brewer Family papers is a compilation of genealogical research for the Brewer, Morrow, and Waggoner families as well as these families’ respective relatives. This compilation of genealogical materials includes subject files of individual family members, family group records which detail the intricacies of familial pedigree charts and individual summaries, reports of family or individual specific genealogical research, family journals, and transcriptions of love-letters as well as of remembrances.
