This collection includes a diary of Connie Ford McCann that he wrote while serving in the CCC, a transcript of the diary, a CCC discharge certificate, a letter of recommendation, scanned childhood photos of McCann, a CD with photos of McCann (1923-1933), newspaper clippings about McCann, a CCC publication, correspondence with J.B. Braziel, a biography of McCann, and photographs McCann took while he was in the CCC (c.1933/1934).
The Civilian Conservation Corps was a New Deal public work relief program in the U.S. that operated from 1933 to 1942 for unemployed, unmarried men ages 18-25. It provided jobs related to natural resouce conservation and development of government owned lands.

Scope and Contents: Connie Ford McCann (1914-1998) joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in May of 1933. He served two six-month tours with the CCC and was discharged in June of 1934. While he worked for the CCC he kept a diary and took photographs which are available in this collection.
