Scope and Contents: Jenks Beaman was a West Point graduate and 2^nd Lieutenant.  He was a member of the 4^th Infantry Artillery during the Mexican-American War, known as the Mexican War.. This collection of papers contains orders, appointments, depositions, correspondence, and requisition muster rolls. Future Civil War generals signed several of the documents: Samuel Cooper, Charles P. Kingsbury, William Maynadier, Robert H. K. Whiteley, Benjamin Huger, Henry Moses Judah, and Ulysses S. Grant.
