Welcome to the University of North Texas We are so glad you decided to visit and learn more about us I wanna talk to you about something I'm involved in at UNT Greek life! Greek Life has been a viable, integral part of UNT since the 1950s. With four different councils consisting of over 40 fraternities and sororities, our Greek community offers a unique and lifelong involvement experience. Membership in a Greek Organization can be one of the most significant experiences for a College student. All our organizations followed 4 pillars which are academics, service and philanthropy, leadership, and brotherhood and sisterhood We take this pillars is very seriously and most of our programs includes them. All of our organizations have National or local philanthropies they support, such as Make A Wish, Saint Jude, and Red Cross. In the 2017 2018 academic school year, Greek members have raised over $96,300 for different philosophies and have contributed more than 91,200 community service hours. Our organizations also regularly host donation drive to service the UNT and Denton community by collecting items such as canned goods, School supplies, clothing and toys. When it comes to academics, the all Greek GPA is regularly higher than the all student GPA. Freshmen who join Greek organizations are 7 percent more likely to graduate in four years compared to the rest of the UNT community to help keep up these high standards of academics, many of these organizations host study nights for their members. Being Greek is also a great way to find familiar faces in classes, to find accountability and study buddies. Greeks have close bonds with each other, even if they are in different organizations Greek Life is one big family! Greek Life is usually a springboard for other campus involvement and leadership opportunities You will see Greek members all around campus: as Orientation Leaders... Eagle Camp Leaders... First Flight Leaders SGA Members, athletes... NT40 and countless other student organizations. Being Greek lets you be involved in large campus events, such as Homecoming, Greek Week, Gig Event, Make A Difference Day, and MLK Day of Service. You'll even have an opportunity to attend an Alternative Service Break trip with just Greeks. Brothers and sisters is one of the main reasons many of us have joined our Organizations. It gives you an amazing support system that you will have for the rest of your life. Once you become Greek, you will develop bonds with each other that will continue pass your college years. We hold each other accountable to be better men and women and support each other This exist beyond individual chapters and Council, since we are one Greek community. We hope you'll join our community! See you next semester!
