Fall 2019 Speaker Series- Mindfulness with Tim Trail

A growing body of research shows the practice of Mindfulness beneficial in numerous areas, including:

  • Stress Reduction
  • Increase in Immunity
  • Improved Attention 
  • Memory 
  • Self-Control
  • Improved Emotional Regulation

In the treatment and recovery for people with Substance Use Disorder, Mindfulness has shown productive for achieving longer-term recovery. Mindfulness can be done anywhere, without expense, and requires little time. 

Tim Trail, Coordinator of UNT SURE Center will provide a lecture and practical experience of Mindfulness. 

Prior to his present position as the Coordinator of the SURE Center at UNT, Mr. Trail worked in addiction related fields for over 10 years. While earning a BS with the Department of Disability and Addiction Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of North Texas, he presented research on neurological changes in veterans experiencing PTSD as a result of mindful-meditation at conferences for the National Rehabilitation Association in 2011 and 2012. Tim is also a member of the CAP Subcommittee for Recovery in Higher Education as well as a regular presenter for CIGNA’s National Drug & Alcohol Awareness Education Series.

Mr. Trail completed his MS degree in Disability and Addiction Rehabilitation Counseling and and is working toward completion of a Neurotherapist certification. Tim is a member of the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research, Association for contextual Behavioral Science, and National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. He also is cofounder and Vice President of Denton Drop In, an aspiring organization focusing on complete wraparound services for homeless/at risk adolescents as well as individuals exiting the foster care systems of Texas.
