Why Learning Technologies?
Learning technologies continue to change the face of education and training internationally, nationally, regionally, and statewide. Our degree programs are nationally and internationally known for preparing future educators and technology professionals to advance knowledge of technology tools and their applications. Faculty members within the department continue this leadership role through scholarship, grant acquisition, teaching, and service activities.
LTEC Graduates play key roles in a wide variety of educational and business settings such as principals of schools, technology coordinators, web designers and developers, technical consultants, higher education faculty, instructional designers, and researchers. Their impact on Learning Technologies will continue to evolve and expand over the next few decades. The vision of the LTEC department is to provide students with knowledge and experience that adds value to learning technologies through research, product development, and application of current tools to solving educational problems.
LTEC offers Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences, Master of Science, Master of Education, Doctor of Education, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in several different areas that provide plenty of opportunities for students.
Our Vision
The department strives to create and maintain a community of scholars that enables all members of a diverse faculty to contribute their unique strengths. The department's vision is to thrive in research, teaching, and service through collaborative efforts both on and off campus.
Effective research and teaching by each faculty member is a fundamental requirement for maintaining the department's regional and national recognition. The department is committed to playing a significant role in the continued investigation of the fundamental questions of this field through scholarly inquiry. As computer and information technology and subsequent theory in our field changes, the department will discover and employ the best uses of these advances in our teaching and learning processes in order to bring quality education to our students through both distributed learning and on-campus experiences.
The success of this vision will assure that the department continues to play a vital role in developing and adding scholars, educators, and professionals to our field.
