Employment Opportunities

You may view current employment vacancies and submit an on-line application at jobs.unt.edu.  In order to be considered for employment, you must first submit an on-line application.

Applicants for police officer positions are required to complete a personal history statement in addition to the on-line application.  Applicants for other positions within the department may be required to complete a personal history statement during the selection process.   If  required at the time of application, your completed Personal History Statement must be returned (mailed or in person) to the University of North Texas Police Department located at 1700 Wilshire Street, Denton, Texas, 76201-6572 within two weeks of submitting the on-line application.

You are not required to submit a Personal History Statement if you have submitted one for the same position title within the last year.

All qualified applicants will be given consideration and notified by phone if they have been selected to participate in an oral interview board.  The oral interview board will pertain to your background, personal history statement and job requirements.  Based on these findings, the board will then consider your application further to determine whether you have been considered for a formal background investigation.

Upon favorable recommendation from the board, your application will be assigned to a background investigator.  The investigator will conduct a thorough background investigation to verify your qualifying credentials, review any criminal record and verify personal references. All positions within the UNT Police Department have been designated security sensitive and require that all applicants satisfactorily pass a criminal history check.

Police Officer Applicants:

All background investigations will be reviewed and forwarded to the Chief of Police for recommendation for a final interview.  The Chief of Police will make a final determination on whether to offer you a conditional offer of employment.  The conditional offer is contingent on the successful completion of medical, psychological, polygraph, and drug screen exams.

All other Applicants:

All background investigations will be reviewed and forwarded to the Director for recommendation for a final interview.  The Director will make a final determination on whether to make an offer of employment.

The complete selection process from the time your application is considered through the background investigation may take several weeks to accomplish.  I will keep you informed of your status throughout this process. The position will remain open until the best qualified applicant is selected.

In the event that you are not selected for this position, you may reapply for a similar or any other position within our department or the University of North Texas.  All applicants will be notified when the position is filled.

Again, thank you for your interest in the University of North Texas Police Department.
