Box Score The Mean Green starts off the season 1-0 and improves to 10-0 in season-opening games under head coach Johnny Jones. North Texas is now 2-0 in the series against the Reddies. North Texas started off slow but pulled away towards the end of the first half. The Mean Green capitalized on the Reddies' 31 fouls, scoring 36 points off free throws. North Texas made 36 of 47 free throws today, the most attempted and made for North Texas since a 44-for-57 effort at UT-Arlington on Nov. 18, 2009. Kedrick Hogans joined the duo in double-figure scoring with 11 points. George Odufuwa pulled down double-digits in rebounding with 11 boards. The Mean Green held the edge in rebounding, 43-34. Ahead 45-36 at the half, the Mean Green opened the second stanza on a 20-11 run. The 18-point lead was the largest of the game until the final three minutes. Johnson hit back-to-back three-pointers to give North Texas one of its first leads of the first half, 26-25, at 7:15. After a Henderson State basket, North Texas hit eight straight free throws to add to the lead, 32-27. The Mean Green ended the half on a 27-14 run. The Mean Green hit only 11 field goals in the first half. NT was aided by 18 Henderson State fouls, leading to 18 Mean Green points off free throws. With nine points, Josh White now has 1253 points on his career and moves into a tie with Calvin Watson (1,253 pts) for 10th place on North Texas' career scoring list. Six of his nine points were from the charity stripe. North Texas' 92 points are the most scored in a home game since Feb. 19, 2009, when North Texas beat ULM 95-80. The Mean Green returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 16 when it faces Texas Tech at 7 p.m. in the Super Pit. |
