University of North Texas - National Presidential Search

The University of North Texas System Board of Regents and the UNT System Chancellor have been conducting a national search for the 15th president of the University of North Texas, the flagship institution of the UNT System and the fourth-largest university in Texas.

On Nov. 12, the UNT System Board of Regents approved V. Lane Rawlins' nomination as the sole finalist to become UNT's 15th president. There is a minimum 21-day period required by Texas law before the System regents can vote to officially appoint Rawlins, who has been serving a one-year appointment, to the UNT presidency. The nomination concludes UNT's national search for a new president.
