DENTON, Texas (11/16/10) - Josh White did it again. Behind the senior's 32 points, the North Texas men's basketball team defeated Texas Tech, 92-83, in overtime in front of a record crowd on Tuesday night at the Super Pit.

The Mean Green improves to 2-0 this season and 3-0 against Big XII teams under Coach Jones at home. Texas Tech falls to 1-1. The Red Raiders still lead the series against NT, 8-6.

Tonight's attendance of 7,105 is the fifth-largest crowd all-time at the Super Pit and the largest since December 16, 1980 when 9,100 attended a contest between North Texas and DePaul.

Shades of his freshman year when White led the Mean Green to a victory against Oklahoma State, the point guard tied the game against Texas Tech and sent the Mean Green into overtime with a floating layup.

North Texas outscored the Red Raiders, 18-9, in the overtime period. White scored 11 of those points, including two three-pointers at the start of the extra time.

White led the Mean Green in scoring with 32 points, his second career game with 30+points. He was 11 of 18 from the field and 7-for-8 from the charity strip. The Mean Green scored 23 points from the free-throw line, making 79 percent of their shots.

Trailing the entire second half, Tristan Thompson hit two free throws at 3:30 to give North Texas its first lead of the second stanza, 70-69. The Red Raiders quickly went down the court to take back the lead. Fouled again, Thompson hit two more free throws, putting NT ahead, 72-71. Thompson scored all 11 of his points in the second half and the overtime. He did not make a basket until the 6:59 mark in the second half.

Texas Tech's Mike Singletary was fouled three times in the final 1:39 of the game, but hit only three of his six shots, leaving an opening for the Mean Green. Trailing 74-72 with 24 seconds left, White weaved in and out of traffic and finally found an opening with three seconds left on the clock.

North Texas scored the first eight points of the overtime period and never looked back. The Red Raiders came within four points, 84-80, but the Mean Green hit five of the next six free throws to seal the win.

Texas Tech built an eight-point lead at the start of the second half, 51-43, but the Mean Green stormed back, scoring eight unanswered points. The run was capped by a Dominique Johnson three-pointer that tied the game at 51. Alonzo Edwards was instrumental in the run, making a three-point play after a dunk to cut the Red Raiders lead to three. Johnson finished the game with 12 points.

The Red Raiders would hold two more seven-point leads (60-53 and 67-60), but the Mean Green answered each time. Thompson hit key free throws down the stretch and then White hit the tying shot.

George Odufuwa notched his 18th career double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

With his 32 points, White has now scored 1285 points in his career and passes Calvin Watson (1,253 pts) for sole possession of 10th place on North Texas' career scoring list.

Neither team led by more than five points in the first half. Jacob Holmen scored six straight points for the Mean Green, putting North Texas ahead, 26-25,at 6:36. Off a hustle play by Hogans, Holman hit a layup under the basket and then made two jumpers.

North Texas faces another tough opponent on Friday, Nov. 19 on the road against No. 7 Kansas.
