Music, dance, lecture, banquet to celebrate Black History Month at UNT

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Several events honoring and celebrating the history of African Americans will be held during the University of North Texas' observance of Black History Month, which is in February. Please include this information in any briefs or calendars.

Urban Bush Women

  • 8 p.m. Jan. 30 (Saturday)
  • University Theatre, inside UNT's Radio, Television, Film and Performing Arts Building, located on the corner of Welch and Chestnut streets (1179 Union Circle)
  • Ticket information – general public: $30; non-UNT students, senior citizens and UNT faculty/staff: $15; and UNT students with ID: free

  • Local presenters, area artists and community residents bring the under-told histories of their communities forward through performance art.

V. Lane Rawlins V. Lane Rawlins named sole finalist for UNT presidency
The UNT System Board of Regents approved the nomination of V. Lane Rawlins Nov. 12, beginning the 21-day period required by Texas law before they can officially appoint him to the presidency. Rawlins has been serving a one-year appointment as UNT president.
