We are pleased to announce that the University of North Texas has partnered with Apogee in order to provide Residential Network (ResNet) service with fast, reliable Internet and 24/7 customer support.

Apogee will provide University of North Texas students, who live on campus in the residence halls, high-speed access to the school’s networked services. Access to services outside the campus network through the Internet will be at 2 Mbps (megabits per second) download. Each student will also have the option to upgrade to faster speeds for an additional fee.

The University and Apogee are committed to making a smooth transition of services. While your residence hall is being moved over to the new network, Internet downtime can be expected throughout the day. As wireless will not immediately be available, you will need to connect through an Ethernet (CAT 5 patch) cable. The wireless installation is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. You will receive notification once it is accessible.

We are encouraging students to sign up for an Apogee account as soon as possible, especially if you are currently living on campus during the summer. This will provide you with immediate access to the new ResNet when the service becomes available in your residence hall.

It’s easy to sign up for an Apogee account:

For assistance or support, call Apogee’s Customer Support Call Center toll-free at 1-877-478-8871. Live representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There are some restrictions on the new service in order to maximize the efficiency of this community resource. Routers, access points and other devices can interfere with network equipment; these are not allowed on the new ResNet.
