UNT Scholarships

The University of North Texas offers many scholarships. Students who wish to be considered for a scholarship offered by UNT through its Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Office must complete the General Academic Scholarship Application by March 1.

Honors College Scholarships

The Honors College awards several scholarships each year in amounts ranging from $250 to $1,000. Honors College Scholarships are usually awarded to excellent students who have a record of participation in Honors classes and programming, but outstanding freshmen who have been admitted to the Honors College may also be considered. The deadline to submit the Honors College Scholarship application is March 1. Please complete the application and send it to the Honors College at the address below, along with a copy of your most recent transcripts and your personal statement. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Mail completed applications to the University of North Texas, Honors College, 1155 Union Circle #310529, Denton, TX  76203-5017. Applications must be postmarked by March 1 for consideration.

Honors College Transfer Scholarships

Several Honors College Transfer Scholarships are available annually to incoming undergraduate transfer students accepted to UNT and the Honors College by March 1. To be eligible, a transfer student must have at least 15 credit hours and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Scholarships are renewable for a second year, provided the student: 1) completes a minimum of 15 credit hours in both the fall and spring terms; 2) maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25; and 3) successfully completes at least six Honors credits during the initial award year.

No scholarship application is needed. Your Honors College application and UNT admission application will be used to consider students for these competitive awards. Award amounts are based on an applicant’s cumulative GPA, and vary in amount from $1,000 to $4,000, depending on available funding.

National Meritorious Scholarships

The University of North Texas offers full scholarships to National Merit Finalists who meet certain qualifications. Holders of these National Meritorious Scholarships are members of the Honors College, and must successfully complete at least six Honors credits per academic year. Terry Scholarships

The Terry Foundation Scholarship program provides scholarships for up to four years to outstanding Texas high school graduates who show promise for being future leaders of Texas. The University of North Texas nominates candidates whose applications are forwarded to the foundation for review and selection.
