Robocamp Jumpstart camps are for 7th and 8th grade girls in the selected ISD's only. Registration will be conducted through the teachers in that ISD and not via the Robocamp web site. The Robocamp Jumpstart program is a pilot program with two goals: 1. to extend the Robocamp program into lower grades, and 2. to broaden the reach of the Robocamp program by enlisting local teachers as camp leaders and offering camps locally at the school district level in the DFW metroplex and beyond.

Registration for these camps will be available on this website beginning April 12. Due to our grant constraints, only students ages 14 or older at the time of the camp will be allowed to register for the camps. Other registrations will be discarded. Unlike in past years when we could make some exceptions, our current grant funding from the state is very strict on this issue. As in the past, there is no cost for the camps and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We will maintain waiting lists and process cancellations as quickly as possible. Please do not register for more than one camp of a particular type to hold slots as we will arbitrarily delete one or both of the registrations. Please also be sure that you register for the appropriate gender camp, where applicable, and again please follow the age guidelines.

Additional Camp opportunities:

We are also participating in this year’s UNT Grandparents University. This camp is a two day experience for ages 7-12 plus a grandparent. Please visit http://call.unt.edu/lifelonglearning and click on Grandparent’s University for more information. We will not be registering for this event on the Robocamp website. It is being hosted by a different department at UNT, we are just providing some of the activities.

We will also be hosting three Robocamp Jumpstart camps for 7th and 8th grade girls at three area schools (locations TBA). These camps will be administered by the chosen schools, including registration. If you are a teacher interested in hosting one of the camps, please contact David Keathly at david.keathly@unt.edu for more information. Teachers will receive training, stipend, and UNT student assistance to operate their own Robocamp program at their school. We will announce the schools chosen on our website in early May, but registration procedures and criteria will be determined and administered by the schools themselves. Teacher training will be in May.

Camp days will start at 9:00 am and end at 4:00 pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Each participant will receive a wealth of study materials, a camp T-Shirt and other souvenirs from these fun and educational programs.

For information about the camp contact:

There is no fee for this camp.

Applications will be accepted beginning April 12, 2010

Each camp is strictly limited to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will be maintained to facilitate replacement due to cancellations. Register now!
