Purpose of the Strategic Plan

• To create and implement a meaningful set of strategic goals that utilizes the professional staff, Board of Directors, University of North Texas partners, and University of North Texas Alumni Association members to promote and support the University of North Texas, its alumni, students and friends.
• To promote significant growth in the Alumni Association through creating and nurturing partnerships and alliances both inside and outside of the University.

The University of North Texas Alumni Association will become a “must join” organization for all former and future UNT students.

Mission of the University of North Texas Alumni Association

The University of North Texas Alumni Association is dedicated to PROMOTING the University of North Texas by CONNECTING with alumni, friends, and current students through programs, scholarships and activities that create awareness and loyalty, SUPPORTING the ideals of the University.

Goal One: Financial Independence and Self-Sustaining Growth

University of North Texas Alumni Association will increase the membership base to a level where the organization and affiliated chapters are self-funded through member dues for all administrative, outreach, and growth activities. Monies raised outside the dues base will provide for additional scholarships, events, and contributions to the University. Financial independence will be accomplished through:

• Securing new members through outreach campaigns focusing on connectivity, pride, giving back to UNT, and Alumni Association membership benefits


• Retaining current members through the value of membership


• Partnering with other University entities to grow association membership base


• Establishing structure for dramatic growth in fundraising outside the dues base

Goal Two: Position Ourselves as a Valuable “Must Join” Organization for UNT Students

Establish the Alumni Association as a significant presence in the life of current students, resulting in life-long membership upon graduation by:

• Expanding role at Eagle Camp to increase school pride and begin connecting students to both UNT and the association at the beginning of their UNT experience


• Developing connection points with students designed to increase both school pride and Alumni Association affiliation throughout their years at UNT


• Creating relationships with colleges, schools, institutions, centers, and organizations to grow Alumni Association brand during the college experience


• Obtaining membership commitments from graduating seniors

Goal Three: Develop and Sustain a Life Long Connection Between UNT and Former Students and Friends

The Alumni Association will provide a lifelong connection between former students and the University resulting in a sense of connectivity, a spirit of giving, and feelings of school pride by:

• Expanding opportunities for former students to reconnect with UNT


• Developing events and mechanisms to connect current and former students to create UNT spirit, personal opportunity, and school pride


• Creating an online community to connect former students to the University and each other


• Partnering with other campus organizations to strengthen the commitment of former students to UNT.

Goal Four: Provide a Forum for Former Students to Give Back to UNT

The Alumni Association will provide a venue for former students to support the University and current students through scholarships, activities, and outreach programs by:

• Providing significant, well-publicized scholarships to current UNT students


• Creating opportunities for former students to provide mentoring, guidance, and career assistance to current students


• Creating opportunities to increase former and future students’ success, enabling them to give increasing amounts back to the University


• Developing networking forums linking current and former students

Goal Five: Organize Board, Staff, and Chapters to Maximize Organization Growth and Impact

Develop the organization to focus board resources on growth of the organization, staff resources on administration of the organization, and member and chapter resources on connectivity, giving, and school pride through:

• Moving Alumni Association board to a strategic role providing oversight, direction, and guidance to the organization


• Raising significant funds to provide an infusion of the money needed to accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives


• Developing staff to provide better day-by-day organization management


• Creating member and chapter organizations focused on delivering the mission of connectivity, giving, and school pride
