LIS Village

Welcome to SLIS Village The graduate school experience should be more than an accumulation of classes. It should be an opportunity to get to know fellow students, to exchange ideas and experiences, to make lifelong professional acquaintances and friends. Since so many students pursuing the Master's degree do so part-time, this side of their program is often slighted.

The Department of Library and Information Sciences launched the LIS Village to provide an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to enrich the educational experience. The LIS Village is a service of the Library and Information Sciences Student Association, and is administered by a student serving as the Village Manager.Village Coffee House It has all of the WebCT capabilities - including real-time chat rooms, discussion threads, calendar, and Internet links to digital libraries, reference sites, and search engines. This is a virtual community for students, faculty, and staff of the department to get together on a social basis. It offers the same places and services you would find in any village: bulletin board, garage sale, coffee house, neighborhoods, calendar and meeting hall. And, like any other village, ours is a great place to relax, and connect with others who share your interests and values. Come on in, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy your Village!
