Greater Los Angeles Cohort - Facts
- Students will be required to attend two four-day web institutes held, August 26-29, 2011 and January 6-9, 2012 in the Oviatt Library at California State University Northridge.
- In addition to the two web institutes, there will be various on-site activities in the Greater Los Angeles area to provide additional learning and networking opportunities.
- The courses will be delivered fully online or through a blend of online and onsite instruction at CSUN.
- Students must begin the program in the Fall of 2011.
- Students will apply to, be admitted, and be advised from the Department of Library and Information Sciences, College of Information at the University of North Texas.
Application Deadlines
Applications for the second Greater Los Angeles Cohort Program are now being accepted and will be accepted until the cohort is filled.
Estimated Costs
The approximate cost of the master's degree program is $475 per semester credit hour (based on 6 hours per semester for a total of $17,100).

An Online Learning Community
The Greater Los Angeles Program students will stay together as a cohort through the two years of study and classes limited to only cohort students will be available. Cohort students will also have access to an online learning community site. This site allows for continuing communication among the students, faculty, and administration.
Practicum/Computing Requirements
- Students must present evidence of relevant field experience through prior experience or by taking a field experience course in addition to the thirty-six semester hours required for the Master's.
- Students are expected to possess computing competencies that will enable them to learn in the distributed environment. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that these competencies are possessed.
