CSE hosts 2009 North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad (NACLO)

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted a regional competition of the 2009 North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad (NACLO) on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Rada Mihalcea, Associate Professor, supervised this event, along with Genene Murphy, Carmen Banea, Courtney Corley, Samer Hassan, and Michael Mohler.

Twenty-nine high school students waited to take the test.
Rada gives out the directions for the test.

The students went to work at 9 a.m. and finished at noon.
After the students begin, Michael and Rada check on the final registration.

Genene Murphy helped with the publicity of the competition. Carmen Banea, Courtney Corley, Samer Hassan, and Michael Mohler helped with the various tasks required for the organization of the event.
