Media Relations Staff
Media Availability for Coaches
North Texas interim head coach Mike Canales will be available for media interviews on a regular schedule throughout the season. All requests for interviews at times other than the regularly-scheduled availabilities should be made through the athletic media relations office. Requests for interviews of assistant coaches will be granted with prior approval of Coach Canales and must be made in advance through the media relations office.
Sun Belt Conference Teleconference
Canales’s availability for the media begins Monday with the Sun Belt Conference teleconference which is held each Monday throughout the season. All eight Sun Belt Coaches have a designated 10-minute time slot on the teleconference. Please contact the North Texas media relations office or the Sun Belt Conference office for the time and call-in number.
Radio Show
Canales will hold the weekly radio show at 12 p.m. Mondays from the Pourhouse in Denton.
Post-Practice
Canales will be available to media immediately following Tuesday’s practice at the Darrell Dickey Practice Facility. Requests should be made in advance of practice to the media relations office.
Out of Town Media
Canales and his assistant coaches are also available by request to out-of-town media Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m.-12 noon. Contact the media relations office to arrange these requests.
Player Interviews
All player interviews must be arranged through the Athletic Media Relations office. Player interviews must be conducted on Tuesday following practice. Players will be available for in-person interviews or pre-arranged phone interviews at that time. All requests for player interviews must be made by noon on Tuesday. Monday is an off-day for North Texas players, no practice is scheduled and no interview requests will be granted. Special exceptions may be granted to those media members needing to interview players prior to Tuesday practice at the discretion of the media relations office.
Covering Practice
North Texas football practices are open to the media every day with access limited to the exterior of the fence immediately surrounding the practice field. Media wishing to attend practice should notify the media relations office in advance Video and still photography will be allowed to shoot practice from inside the fence for the first 30 minutes of practice.
Mean Green on the Web
Statistics and news releases on North Texas football and all 16 Mean Green athletic programs are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.MeanGreenSports.com, the official website of North Texas Athletics.
Media Credentials
All requests for press, broadcast, photo and parking credentials should be made in writing at least one week prior to the requested game. Direct all requests to Eric Capper, Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations, by email to Eric.Capper@unt.edu or phone at 940-565-2476. All credentials that are not picked up prior to the day of the game will be left at the media will call in the ticket office on the southeast corner of Fouts Field.
Photographers
Credentials will only be issued to accredited photographers for a working purpose and should be requested in the same manner as regular media passes. Photographers with a credential should report to the press box, where they will be issued a colored sticker that must accompany each media credential for admittance to the field. Photographers are not permitted in the team areas between the 25-yard lines. Photographers are not permitted to enter the bench area at any time.
Media Parking
A limited number of media parking spaces are available at Fouts Field. Media must request parking passes along with credential requests. Parking passes will be provided only to the organizations that cover North Texas on a regular basis.
Press Box Services
Please be advised that there is no elevator to the press box at Fouts Field. Media needing special needs or accommodations please contact the Athletic Media Relations office in advance.
Telephones: Visiting radio stations will be given one phone line and one ISDN line for broadcasts. Additionally, there will be three phone lines available for working press on a first-come, first-serve basis. For media anticipating tight deadlines, please secure a phone line by calling Steven Bartolotta at 940-369-8329.
Wireless: Wireless internet is available in the North Texas press box for all members of the working media. Please contact a member of the media relations staff to obtain instructions.
Statistics: Complete individual and team stats, play-by-play and post-game quotes will be available to the media following each game. Quickie stats will be distributed after each quarter. Complete media packets, including game programs, flip cards and updated releases will be distributed prior to each game. A post-game fax service is available upon request.
