General Program of Study

The general program of study is intended to prepare graduates to succeed in a wide range of library and information science positions in any type of library. In addition to the three core classes, the student should take at least one course from each area of study listed below plus four elective courses. 

General Requirements

  1. Total coursework is 36 credit hours (12 courses).
  2. Enroll in SLIS 5090 (practicum) unless officially waived based on previous professional library/information science experience; for more details on practicum check here.
  3. During the final semester before graduation, enroll in Capstone and take and pass the comprehensive examination.
