Nevada Cohort - Facts
- Students will be required to attend two four-day institutes held September 4 - 7, 2009 and January 15 - 18, 2010 at Utah Valley University, Orem, Utah. See Schedule of Courses for more details.
- The remainder of the instruction will take place via the Web.
- Students must begin the program in the Fall of 2009.
- Students may use up to nine semester hours of coursework from other graduate programs toward the master's degree with approval of their program advisor.
- Students will apply to, be admitted, and be advised from the Department of Library and Information Sciences at the University of North Texas.
Estimated Costs
The approximate cost of the master's degree program is $340 per semester credit hour.
- One semester-hour course: $340
- Three semester-hour course: $1,020
- Four semester-hour course: $1,360
These are estimated costs only and subject to change.
An Online Learning Community
The Nevada Program students will stay together as a cohort through their first year of study and will be in classes limited to only cohort students. Cohort students are encouraged to participate in the SLIS Village where they will have a neighborhood of their own.
Practicum Requirements
Department of Library and Information Sciences Students must present evidence of relevant field experience through prior experience or by taking a field experience course in addition to the 36 semester hours required for the Master's degree.
The field experience does not count toward the 36 semester hours required for the masters.
Computing Requirements
- Students must present evidence of relevant field experience through prior experience or by taking a field experience course in addition to the thirty-six semester hours required for the Master's.
- Students are expected to possess computing competencies that will enable them to learn in the distributed environment. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that these competencies are possessed. Click here for details.
