The New Venture Creation Contest (NVCC) is an opportunity for students with new, independent ventures to solicit start-up funds. The competition is for new ventures created, managed, and owned by UNT students. Students must have played a major role in conceiving the venture, have key management roles in the venture, and own significant equity in the venture. Up to $50,000 in total funding is awarded.
Prize monies were awarded at the 2010 Leadership Luncheon on November 19, 2010 to the following: First Place winning $25,000 was Cakes Couture. Second Place winning $15,000 was Imported Performance. Third Place winning $10,000 was Armadillo Ale Works. The Murphy Center for Entrepreneurship has helped launch many new businesses and provided opportunities for students. The contest gives students a way to earn the seed money to start their businesses.
