Emerald Eagle Scholars Program

Could you be an Emerald Eagle Scholar?

Like lots of Texas high school students, you might be worried about how you are going to pay for college.

If you will soon be a Texas high school graduate from a home with an adjusted gross income of $40,000 or less and are eligible for federal Pell grants, you may be eligible for UNT's Emerald Eagle Scholar program.

The program covers your average tuition and fees cost for 4 years.

Finding out if you qualify couldn't be easier

  • The first step is to complete your UNT admissions application - see what you still need to send us at my.unt.edu (application, fee, test scores, current transcript, class rank).
  • Then, you need to complete your financial aid form online before March 31 so we can confirm your eligibility. Use UNT's FAFSA code – 003594.

(Please allow time for UNT to receive your FAFSA application from the Federal Processor.  This process usually takes about 6 weeks. )

  • No special Emerald Eagle Scholar application is needed.
  • Once you're qualification is confirmed, you'll get a selection notification packet from UNT inviting you to become an Emerald Eagle Scholar. Students that meet program requirements and deadlines will be notified May 1st through July 31st.
  • The packet includes a contract between you and UNT. Just send the signed contract back telling us you'll be enrolling this fall and committing to the program.
