With an estimated total amount of contributions of more than $156,000 from individuals and fundraisers, UNT surpassed last year's total of $150,301. In addition, the participation rate of 46 percent was higher than the campaign goal for participation.
The Organization for Reinforcement Contingencies with Animals (ORCA), a student animal training group in the Department of Behavior Analysis at the University of North Texas will present Steve White as the second lecturer in the ORCA Annual Lecture Series.
For 20 years, J.B. Spalding has donned a Dracula cape and, as "The Count," urged students, faculty and staff members to give blood. The Count will be on hand in the University Union Golden Eagle Suite Oct. 30 and 31 during this fall's blood drive, which runs through Nov. 3.
During Cans Across America this Wednesday, Oct. 18, students, faculty and staff members will attempt to gather 800 pounds of canned food. The food can be dropped off at four campus locations, or purchased for donation at 25 cents per can.
A federal grant that UNT received to develop training programs to respond effectively to students with mental health problems that may lead to suicide attempts. UNT was one of 34 colleges and universities in the U.S., and one of two in Texas, to receive the grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
