Advanced training offered for child mental health professionals

DENTON (UNT), Texas - The University of North Texas' Center for Play Therapy will host hosting a series of summer institute workshops from July 11 (Monday) to July 22 (Friday). Seven workshops and a four-day intensive supervision clinic will allow pediatric mental health professionals the opportunity to receive advanced training.

The workshops, which cover topics such as Play Therapy for Traumatic and Distressing Events and Challenging Issues in the Practice of Play Therapy, are taught by a wide range of professionals in the field of play therapy. The event will take place in the Silver Eagle Suite in the University Union, located one block west of Welch and West Prairie streets. Fees for the sessions are $95 per day and $70 per day for students for pre-registration. After June 21 the cost is $120 per day. For groups of 10 or more, contact the Center for Play Therapy for group rates.

The Center for Play Therapy is part of the university's College of Education. Its mission is to encourage the unique development and emotional growth of children through the process of play therapy.
