Computing Services

The Research Park Library has 46 3.2 GHz Public workstations for patron use. Each has a floppy drive, CD-ROM drive, earphone jack, and two USB ports in the front of the CPU. There is also one workstation with a scanner allowing patrons to save scanned files to floppy or USB Flash drive or to email scanned files to yourself. Flash Drives are not supplied by the library. Additionally, three of the workstations have JAWS and ZoomText Xtra accessibility software installed for seeing and hearing impaired patrons.

Productivity Tools: Effective summer 06 the Microsoft productivity tools are available to students, faculty, and staff (anyone with a valid UNT EUID) on the public workstations within the library. You will be able to edit and save your documents to a floppy disk, flash drive, the desktop, or your Student Storage (go to http://untss.unt.edu/ and enter your EUID and password). Flash drives provide enhanced options because of their large storage capacity and ease of use.

The computer lab is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. For more information about the College of Engineering general access computer lab please call 940-891-6733.

If you need to make copies: A public use copy machine is located in the mail room directly across the hall from the library (Room B112) where copies can me made for ten cents per page, 24 hours/day. Electronic & Print Books & Journals

  • Many of our materials are available electronically and can be accessed from anywhere at the Research Park, the main campus, or from your home or office. Check the Library Catalog to see if a resource is available electronically, in print, or both. Use the Library Servcies for UNT Off-Campus Users for tips on accessing electronic resources from off-campus.
  • Full-text electronic journals can also be browsed by topic using Serials Solutions. Broad topics in Engineering include: physical sciences and mathematics and technology and applied sciences.
  • There are two locations for print materials at the Research Park Library. Room B112 holds current print subscriptions of over 200 journals and the Research Park Reference Collection. The Research Park Library Collection in room M130 has books and bound journals for engineering, computer science and engineering, and materials sciences. The Library Catalog provides the call number and location of all print materials.
  • The New Aquisitions page offers a quick look at what has recently been added to the collection. This list can be narrowed to include only new aquisitions at the Research Park Library.
  • Reserve materials for courses at Research Park are also kept in room M130. Search for course reserves using the course reserves section of the online catalog. To get more detailed information about course reserves, see the Reserve Materials page.
  • Materials that are owned by UNT Libraries but not kept at the Research Park location can be requested using a Materials Delivery Request Form. Materials are usually transferred within 24 hours, but may take longer on weekends and holidays. Refer to UNT Libraries document delivery policies for more information.
  • Materials that are not owned by UNT can be requested through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) using the ILLiad system. Articles will be sent from ILLiad directly to your email account, or faxed to the UNT Library location of your choice to be picked up.

Reference Services & Library Instruction

The main library desk in room B112 is staffed by librarians or library staff who can help with your reference needs. Individual sessions with one of the librarians, providing in-depth reference assistance or training on specific electronic resources, can be scheduled at your convenience. Faculty can request library instruction sessions for their classes by contacting a librarian. Please allow two weeks notice so we can prepare specific materials to support your course and assignments.
