Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Media Group division to provide leadership in the areas of analog and digital video, distributed learning, and professional digital multimedia in order to support the Health Science Center Administration, Faculty, Staff, and Students and to accomplish the educational mission of the department and institution.

Overview

The Media Group, which is an expanded version of the old Video & Distance Education division, now provides far more than video taping services. Staffed with two video producers, a multi-media developer, and a technical support staff person, they are able to provide expertise for all forms of instructional media. This division manages all distance learning using interactive teleconferencing (both H.320 & H.323 protocols), down linking of satellite programming, and all other videoconferencing services. They are able to provide video production services, (both on-location and in studio) with professional non-linear and analog editing services, conversion of analog video to digital video, video tape duplication, computer digital imaging from slides, still photos or videotape, transfer of Power Point presentations to videotape, closed-circuit video feeds, preparation of QuickTime movies for the World Wide Web, high-impact presentations, and CD production. This division also produces the campus security photo ID’s for all staff, students, and faculty.

The creation of this division has added the ability to produce professional websites and to integrate instructional materials through multi-media design and development. WebCT course design is also available produced from content provided by the instructor. By expanding the capabilities to provide various forms of electronic curriculum, including CD, DVD, interactive web, video on demand, and streaming video, the Media Group has the ability to offer one-stop, turn-key service to the institution for all of its electronic curriculum needs. This team strives to support educators in their efforts to create an effective and stimulating learning environment at the Health Science Center. We offer our technical and design skills to further enhance the medical education experience.
