This is an exciting time for the visual arts and an exciting time for the students, faculty, and staff in the School of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas. Thank you for visiting us on the web! Our new website, as it grows, will reflect the energy and creativity of our faculty and students. As you look through it, let us know if you can't find the information you need. We are building the site to serve you. I hope you will visit our site often and if you are not a member of the SOVA family already, visit us in person when you can!

The School of Visual Arts at UNT offers the BA, BFA, M.A., MFA and Ph.D. degrees in thirteen programs in art history, art education, design and studio arts. With more than 2,100 students enrolled and over 100 faculty and staff, the School of Visual Arts is one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive visual arts programs. We are a community of nationally and internationally recognized scholars, artists, designers, and educators. You can find information about us and our programs under Academic Programs and Student Services, where you will also find information about Financial Aid and Scholarships.

SOVA is taking great advantage of its location at the apex of the Dallas Ft. Worth metroplex. With our new Fashion on Main gallery in Dallas, and the School's UNTartspaceFW in Fort Worth, we are linked with two vibrant cultural and economic centers while maintaining the residential base of our main campus in the North Texas educational community of Denton. Along with all of our academic programs and the SOVA Galleries in the Art Building and Oak Street Hall, the School of Visual Arts is also home to PRINT, the Print Research Institute of North Texas, NTIEVA, the North Texas Institute for Educators in the Visual Arts, and the Texas Fashion Collection. I hope you will visit their sites often as well.

Here in the School of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas we know that the ultimate value of the time you spend in school includes what you expect to learn and do here, what you actually learn and do, and what other people believe you learned and are capable of doing when you get out. We want to make sure all of these aspects of your education are ultimately positive, stimulating, and accurate. We have only one mission:

The mission of the School of Visual Arts promotes excellence in the visual arts through comprehensive educational opportunities in art history and art education, design and studio arts, supported by a vital program of creative research. We provide our diverse student population a thorough understanding of artistic heritage, stimulate their imagination and engagement with the world, foster critical and analytical thinking, and inspire their creativity.

and four clear goals:

As you look through the website, please take a look at the work of the faculty and students and explore the study opportunities that await you here. And, if you can, visit our Support SOVA site and help us help our students become the great artists, designers, educators, and scholars we know they can and will be.
